Professor Ray Croucher

Emeritus Professor

Profile

Passionate about all aspects of smokeless tobacco control, Professor Ray Croucher is a globally acknowledged expert on its use in the South Asian diaspora.  He has especial interests in smokeless tobacco cessation, having developed and managed support services for East London’s Bangladeshi community in which both smoked and smokeless tobacco use far exceeds the English norms.  With skills and experience in accessing communities not readily recruited through conventional channels, he acted as an expert witness for the National Institute for Clinical and Health Excellence in its development of guidelines on tobacco cessation in South Asian communities.
